This Slingerland May Bell Tenor Banjo was made in Chicago in the mid 1920s. From the headstock and inlays on the fretboard it looks like it was one of the first models they made which started production in 1923. It has a 5-piece neck made of birdseye maple and intricate wooden binding on the fingerboard.

The resonator does not match the pictures I have seen of these early May Bell models, so we believe that the resonator has been swapped out at some point in it's 100 year life. The tuning machines have also been swapped out and the old holes can be seen on the back of the headstock. 

This banjo is in full working order, plkays well and has a great sound.
