Simmons SDS- 8 Electronic Drum Kit
Simmons SDS- 8 Electronic Drum Kit
A vintage UK-made analog electronic drum kit by Simmons. Formally owned by Barclay James Harvest.
Originally released in 1983, the SDS 8 was marketed as an affordable alternative to the legendary SDS-V which was used by numerous early Synth Pop acts like Landscape, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet. The sounds on the SDS 8 are faithful recreations of the SDS-V that provide the unmistakeable electronic drum sounds of the 1980s.
Each channel on the brain features a factory preset sound that can be switched to 'Var' (Variation), this switches the sound to a basic signal that can be edited with the various parameters. Each channel's unedited signal is the same, but has an extremely wide variety of tones that can be produced.
Also included are the iconic original hexagonal Simmons pads that are recognisable from many music videos from the 1980s and onwards. Famous for their extremely durable plastic heads made from the same material that police riot shields were made of. Can be unkind to the wrists but also can withstand decades of punishment.
There is no rack or stands included but the mounting system on the toms is not proprietary and can be mounted using any standard injection mount arm you will find on acoustic drum kits.
Is in good condition and full working order.
