Fender Stratocaster 1961
Fender Stratocaster 1961
A vintage pre-CBS 1961 Fender Stratocaster in Sunburst finish.
Serial Number 66697
Originally this guitar was finished in Salmon Pink, the previous owner had the guitar refinished in 3 tone Sunburst by none other than Mr. John Diggins (Jay Dee Basses) who at the time was making Bass Guitars for Mark King of Level 42.
This guitar boasts its original 60s pickups giving it that fat Fender sound unparalleled by any reissue or replica. The original tuners work as they did when they left the factory and will handle any bend you can throw at it. The tremolo works with pinpoint accuracy and reacts to the most subtle of motions, giving you a luscious and silky sway to any chord.
This Guitar is PRE CBS - Made before Leo Fender sold the company and guitars started to suffer cost cutting measures after 1965.
This guitar cost $289.50 brand new in 1961.
‘In 1961 Fender felt the need to add patent numbers to the peghead. Still has the “slab” rosewood fingerboard, but the back neck shape is larger’
